ABYS
‘Oneiria’

Thinkspace Projects is excited to host the debut North American solo exhibition from ABYS out of France. ‘Oneiria’ will showcase 17 new acrylic paintings from the celebrated French street artist.

Known for his striking public murals and technical graffiti roots, ABYS has transitioned his signature larger-than-life characters onto delicate galllery mediums for ‘Oneiria’. This special exhibit offers an intimate look at the evolution of ABYS’s illustrative mythology and his intricate narrative universe, populated by an expressive gallery of wacky, stylized characters that bridge modern animation with contemporary art.

Artist Bio:
Born in 1991 in Nancy, Julien Brouand, also known as ABYS, is a self-taught French artist who comes from the graffiti culture. After spending several years painting in the streets alongside various collectives, starting in 2015, he moved toward a more personal approach and stood out by developing a unique universe. He then created his own characters, which he stages in lively, narrative, and colorful compositions blending characters, settings, and lettering. Passionate about drawing since childhood, his precise and expressive lines give his protagonists an almost animated presence, full of emotion and movement. Color plays a key role in his visual stories, illuminating the material, guiding the eye, and shaping shadows and light. Through his narrative world filled with unique creatures, ABYS skillfully bridges the energy of graffiti with the sensitivity of imagination.
